Tata Hexa breaks down under warranty: poor service center experience

The workshop did not provide a loan car. In fact, there is no work card for the SUV so far.

BHPian wbd8779 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

A test that we all believe will happen one day if you buy a Tata vehicle.

My friend has a Jan 2020, Tata Hexa – Under Standard Warranty with the AMC Gold.

The vehicle overheated, broke down and was taken to Arya Tata dealership in Gurgaon 10 days ago for necessary repairs.

Chronology of events

  • Hexa sent to Arya on August 26
  • The owner was out of town, so the driver was in charge of delivering the car to the workshop
  • Work card not provided to date
  • No loaner car

The car was due to be delivered today according to the service advisor, however, when following up it was communicated that the parts had been ordered, so there is no ETA available at this time for delivery.

Further away

  • A service technician initially stated that “engine assembly will be replaced”
  • After getting involved and asking questions today, the service manager gave vague answers about the head change – on probing further, no further details were given.

The general manager of the dealership or Tata, to whom this issue was passed on, is also unresponsive.

Does anyone here have contact details for someone from NCR for Tata who I can ask my friend to escalate the problem to?

Here is what Damodar BHPian had to say about it:

You can contact the customer service manager of the North zone. All dealership workshops in the NCR are supervised by him.

Here is what BHPian Kosfactor had to say about it:

Give them enough time to go through everything, replacing the motor will take time, maybe even a month. It’s not a good idea to rush because if they save money to save time, your friend will be a permanent resident of their workshop!

Many small bits and pieces may need to be replaced with the engine, some things may break during disassembly, etc. which must be ordered again and then mounted once they arrive. This being a discontinued vehicle, parts will take time to arrive.
