Nissan launches titanium exhaust systems for three older Skyline GT-R models
Nissan’s Nismo Heritage program expands its catalog of upgraded engine parts with three tailpipes and tailor-made exhaust systems for the automaker’s Skyline R32, R33 and R34 models.
All three exhaust systems are made of titanium and use an updated black color DLC for its Nismo iconography. The new diamond-shaped coating would prevent the system from changing color due to exhaust heat like a typical titanium exhaust would.
Additionally, each system is approximately 12.5 kg (27.5 lbs) lighter than previous exhausts and reduces exhaust pressure for an approximately 7% increase in horsepower.
Nissan recommends that the systems be installed only on R3 or R4 models, and not on the automaker’s S1 or S2 engine vehicles due to their turbocharging. Exhausts built for the R32 and R33 models are priced at 726,000 JPY ($ 6,360) and the R34 system is listed for 737,000 JPY ($ 6,457).
At the end of last year, Nissan launched a comprehensive restoration program for its Skyline models, which includes a complete disassembly of the vehicle before any repairs and repainting of the hull and chassis. In addition, the company offers to rebuild its RB26DETT engine with overhauled or new parts, while also solving the problems with the original suspension, brake systems and wiring.
Elsewhere in the automobile, Tesla vehicles are under investigation into allegations that owners can play video games while driving.
