Wreckfest is coming to PS Plus for PS5 owners in May
Fans of the chaos and destruction of vehicles will be treated in May, as Wreckfest comes to PS Plus as a free game for PS5 owners.
Wreckfest – or to give it its full name, Wreckfest: Hard drive, die last – is a demolition derby brought to the digital world. Players participate in races with one goal: to be the last car to cross the finish line.
That said, it’s not all about cars, as the vehicles in the game include buses, trucks, combines, and even a sofa on wheels. There are around 70 vehicles (some as paid DLC), which you can upgrade, and 15 tracks.
The game features awesome driving physics, paired with a soft body crash pattern to enable quick vehicle teardown in real time. Originally a PC title, Wreckfest released on consoles in August 2019 as well.
Interestingly, the version of the game coming to PS Plus is the PS5 upgrade. Bugbear Entertainment announced this very recently and is slated to launch in June for PS5 as a $ 9.99 upgrade. This means that PS Plus subscribers effectively have one month to pick up the title for free before general release.
The upgrade adds graphics improvements, including higher resolution textures, improved particle and shadow, and dynamic dirt on vehicles – and naturally 4K and 60 fps graphics. There are also 24 players online, compared to 16 on PS4, and faster load times. We don’t know yet if there is full support for the DualSense controller, but it seems likely.
Wreckfest joined PS Plus on May 4 and will be available for free until May 31 – with Battlefield v and Stranded Deep, which are also available to PS4 owners.
